The Dieter W. Bäuerle – Stiftung für Wissenschaft und Kunst is calling for applications for the
2026 Dieter W. Bäuerle Award for Music.
The prize is awarded to young musicians and/or researchers in music up to ten years after completing their studies. The award is intended to honor individuals who, with the highest musical qualifications, also develop new interdisciplinary potential (e.g. philological, editorial, in cultural communication or in the field of artistic research). The prize money amounts to 10.000,00 Euros.
Support is given in the form of:
- Scholarships to the benefit of artists in the early stages of their careers
- Support for research stays in the home country and abroad
- Funding for the development of exceptional artistic projects (e.g., premiere recordings, instrument development, compositions, or artistic presentations)
The form of the application to be submitted is open. Evidence must be provided:
- Academic degrees
- Artistic excellence (through documentation of reference projects, such as audio or video documentation as links, scores, etc., including media coverage)
- In case of a personal application: Two letters of recommendation
- In case of a nomination: one additional letter of recommendation
- Motivation letter
- Description of the project to be funded with the award money
Send your application or nomination by July 31st 2026, exclusively by email with the subject „2026 Dieter W. Bäuerle Award for Music“ to prize-2026@baeuerle-stiftung.at . Letters of recommendation must be sent directly from the referees to the foundation.
The selection of the prize winners will be made by the artistic advisory board. The decision is final. The legal process is excluded.
The prize will be awarded at a ceremony at Johannes Kepler University Linz in November 2026. The award winner is expected to receive the award in person.
